This is the real thing run by good folks working hard to please.
| On recent visits to Savannah (as part of Chatham Savannah Citizen Advocacy’s Activist in Residence efforts), Legendary Civil Rights activist Chuck McDew, first President of SNIC Student Non Violent Coordinating Committee and Bob Zellner, first white field secretary of SNCC gave Willie’s Neighborhood Cafe a huge thumbs up. Both men literally groaned with joy as they worked through the oxtails (McDew), smothered shrimp, fried chicken (Zellner), mac and cheese, cornbread dressing, red rice, black eyed peas, collard greens, lima’s with steamed okra. The red velvet cake sent them over the edge. This food is “groanin’ good”. Bring an appetite and your humility. |
